Price list checker: find the errors in 30 seconds

Free, no sign-up · for manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers · updated 20 October 2026

A price list that several people have been adding to for years is rarely clean. One price is typed as text, another says "on request", two products share a SKU, and half the photos sit in a folder on someone else's laptop. Your own sales team knows these quirks and works around them. A new dealer doesn't, and neither does any software you try to build an online catalog from: every small glitch turns into a phone call, a wrong order or a product nobody can find.

The checker below reads your Excel or CSV file in about half a minute, finds the header row and the columns on its own (name, SKU, prices, photo, stock) and tells you what to fix first. Exports from accounting or ERP software work too. Your file is not uploaded anywhere: everything runs in your browser.

In short.
  • What it checks: items with no price, a zero price or a price stored as text; duplicate and missing SKUs; mixed currencies; identical names with different prices; very long names; embedded photos; hidden sheets.
  • What you get: a 0–100 score for how ready the price list is to become an online catalog, plus 3–5 fixes in order of impact, with row numbers.
  • Formats: .xlsx, .xls, .csv, several sheets and files at once. Free, no sign-up, the file never leaves your computer.

Check your price list

The check runs in your browser: the file is not sent to a server and we never see it.

Common price list mistakes

1. Prices stored as text, or "on request". A number saved as text ("$1,250") won't add up in Excel, and a catalog can't put it in a cart. Better: only a number in the price column; the currency goes in the column heading.
2. One SKU on two products. Usually the result of copying a row: the name changed, the code didn't. Orders for that SKU get mixed up. Better: every SKU is unique across the whole price list.
3. Products without a SKU. The buyer writes "that 28 cm frying pan", the sales rep goes looking, and accounting can't match the line to a product. Better: a SKU or item code on every product row.
4. Different currencies in one column. Some prices in dollars, some in euros, and the only clue is the cell format. Better: one column, one currency; another currency gets its own column.
5. Identical names, different prices. "Bath towel 70×140" at 26 and at 28: only the person who wrote the list knows the difference. Better: add the difference (color, weight, pack size) to the name or to a separate column.
6. A name that runs to three lines. Every spec crammed into one cell: hard to read on a phone, and search finds the wrong things. Better: under 120 characters, the key words first, sizes and materials in their own columns.
7. Photos kept apart from the price list. Photos live in a folder, on the website or in a chat, and only one person can match them to rows. Better: the photo sits in the product's row, or a photo link goes in its own column.
8. Hidden sheets and old prices. A partner can unhide a sheet called "Old prices" or "Cost" with one click. Better: delete working sheets before sending the file, don't just hide them.

Blank rows and heading rows such as "Cookware" or "Textiles" are not mistakes: the checker treats them as sections, and in an online catalog they become tabs.

How to prepare a price list for dealers

  1. One row, one product: SKU, name, price, stock, and a photo or photo link.
  2. Column headings in words: "SKU", "Name", "Wholesale price, USD", "RRP, USD", so that people and software read the file the same way.
  3. Prices as numbers, one currency per column. If dealers need both the wholesale price and the recommended retail price, use two columns.
  4. Sections as heading rows, not fill colors: color doesn't survive a CSV or an export from your accounting system.
  5. Before you send it, run the check above and delete hidden working sheets.

Your data

  • The check runs in your browser. The file is not uploaded to a server and we never see it.
  • We only record that a check happened, the rough size of the price list ("up to 500 items") and the score — no names, prices or SKUs.
  • We receive the file only if you send it to us through the form. It isn't stored on the server, and we delete the email after replying.

Questions and answers

Can you see my file?

No. The file is read in your browser and goes nowhere. We only count that a check happened and the rough size of the price list, with no names, prices or SKUs. We see the file only if you send it through the form yourself.

Which files can I check? Will an export from my accounting software or ERP work?

Excel (.xlsx, .xls) and CSV, several files and sheets at once. A price list exported to Excel from 1C, BAS, QuickBooks or any other accounting or ERP system works the same way. You need a header row: name, SKU, price. Embedded photos are counted in .xlsx only, so save an .xls file as .xlsx first.

How is the readiness score calculated?

We start at 100 and subtract points for each problem, weighted by how much of the price list it affects. Items without a price, missing or duplicate SKUs, missing photos and mixed currencies cost the most; identical names with different prices, long names and hidden sheets cost less. The tips under the score are sorted by impact.

Are blank rows and section headings a mistake?

No. A row with a single label and no price counts as a section, and blank rows between groups count as separators. In an online catalog sections become tabs or filters.

What is aiprice and why would I need it after the check?

A Ukrainian service for wholesale suppliers. It is not a CRM and not an online store: it is a private catalog only for your trade partners. Your Excel price list becomes a page with photos, search and a cart that only people with your link can open; search engines don't index it, and each partner sees their own price by their phone number. Orders reach you as an Excel file ready to import into your accounting software.

aiprice turns a price list like this into a private catalog for your trade partners in 1 business day. Photos, search and a cart, each partner sees their own price, and orders arrive as a spreadsheet — no phone calls, no retyping.
